
A Little About Gregory Ritter
Greg Ritter graduated With Distinction from The University of Minnesota, and With Honors from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in New Brighton, MN, where he was awarded the Seminary’s Prize in Historical Theology. He has served in pastoral positions and senior staff and consulting positions in the development, strategic planning, and Board training fields for more than 40 years. His areas of expertise are major gift development, annual and capital campaigns, planned giving and Board and staff training. He is founder and President of The Ritter Group, LLC, a Twin Cities, MN based consulting firm established in 1999 to help advance nonprofit missions.
Before serving clients on a full-time basis, he was Vice President for Development of the Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation in Jeffersonville, Indiana, leading a national staff of 36 development officers. He had previously served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Augsburg University in Minneapolis for eight years. He was President of a consulting firm in the 1980's and served dozens of clients including the University of Minnesota, Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, Presbyterian Homes of Minnesota, the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota, the Catholic Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul, and others. He also served for a decade as an adjunct faculty member in Fundraising at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.
He began his career in fundraising as Director of Church Relations, then Vice President for Development at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in New Brighton, Minnesota. He recently retired from East Side Neighborhood Services, a $7.2 million multi-service social service agency in Minneapolis as its Senior Director of Development.
Greg and Barbara are at home in Minnesota. Their four grown children, Anje, Will, Cady and Becky live with their families in Minnesota and Montana.
